As an Area Manager you will Support, lead and direct stores within Territory / State by ensuring business goals and policies are understood and applied by all team members. Be responsible for the achievement of Territory/State sales, team performance, training, Payroll & expense budgets. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Daily and hourly individual targets must align with company standards. Store productivity must meet the minimum requirements as outlined by the company.
  • Weekly sales budgets for all stores are consistently measured against targets, parity, and the previous year's performance.
  • Monthly management meetings are conducted to review store performance and key imperatives
  • Overstocks and slow-moving lines are identified early to optimize gross profit, with stock consolidations carried out at least once a week.
  • Local promotional opportunities are explored to boost store sales.
  • Active steps are taken to maintain and improve staff performance and morale.
  • Store Managers’ performance reviews are conducted personally.
  • Reasons for turnover are investigated, and remedial actions are implemented.
  • Decisions on dismissals are referred to the People & Culture Department to ensure the correct processes are followed.
  • The Area Manager, in conjunction with the Store Manager, is responsible for all team member appointments.
  • Induction plans for all new team members are reviewed to ensure compliance.
  • Advertising for external applicants is to be discussed with People & Culture when vacancies are identified.
  • Regular team training ensures all staff are aware of company policies and procedures.
  • Succession planning is in place for all Store and Assistant Management positions within the Territory.
  • Staff promotions or transfers within the Territory or Region are handled with appropriate notice and paperwork, including progress plans for the new store.
  • Area Managers regularly provide feedback on training needs and gaps within store teams.
  • Customer complaints are monitored weekly, with appropriate action taken to address issues.
  • Store and product presentations are reviewed by the Area Manager, with areas for improvement identified and followed up.
  • The Area Manager conducts an ‘Internal Audit Checklist’ at the commencement of every store visit, investigating issues and implementing remedial actions.
  • Weekly variations in cash registers, lay-by audits, and stock transfers are investigated and reported to the Retail Accounting Manager.
  • Store rosters are reviewed, with advice provided to Store Managers to improve cost-effectiveness.
  • Store and Area expenses are controlled within established guidelines.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • 2-3 years of previous experience as an Area Manager or Cluster Manager in a retail environment.
  • Ability to work within a team to achieve store targets.
  • A brand ambassador with a natural ability to build rapport and develop client relationships.
